JWO played in two important Dutch raï bands: Raïland (winner of the “Gouden notenkraker” award ) and Noujoum Raï (winner of “kleurrijk talent” award). His connection with these bands started when he met a Moroccan keyboard player in the Amsterdam subway. He stayed with these bands for seven years.
After that period he started to develop his own crossover. It resulted in the album Open Up Your Eyes, where he mixed these experiences with his own background.
